News on Renewable Energy is everywhere. I have talked about this before in posts as Teaching Hybrid Technology. But the amount of focus and fervor devoted to this has grown. There were over 17,500 articles referring to renewable energy in the last 24 hours alone (according to Google News). This is due to new technology, upcoming legislation and man-made disasters. The public awareness of renewable energy is increasing. And one of the ways people express this is to buy and drive hybrid cars.

Hybrid motors combine electric and internal combustion to power the car, rather than combustion. This means they are more environmentally friendly. Because at low speed electric motor is powering the car, saving the consumption of fossil fuels. This has the advantage in term of carbon. If gas is not in use, the smoke does not escape into the environment. Their reliability and low emissions rate (not to mention higher gas mileage), means they are more popular than ever.

These hybrid cars are used, and so they have to be maintained. Hybrid engines have some different features than typical gas engines, as mentioned above. Want to see how they look? Check out our Hybrid Cut-Away Engine. This engine is specially cut to give automotive technology teachers and students with the best view of the mechanism. (It is color coded to show the flow of fluids.) Here are a few sneak peaks (with more available on nadascientific): # Gallery-1 (margin: auto;) # Gallery-1.
