After 20 years of driving, and over 40 cars, I finally got around to buying one of these great cars - one of my all time favorites for style but make it stand up to modern life? I’m going to try and (perhaps accidentally) let anyone who is interested how I get on, after all, that we all need more style in our lives, we just want convenience, too.

I have wanted one of these for almost as long as I have driven, it’s just that other cars have seemed to stand in the way (no problem However, they all have been great even in their unique ways ).

You can say I have a bit of a problem with buying cars, it’s not that I buy hugely expensive, exotic vehicles just cars, I love the style of. One of the greatest pleasures of buying them, the research you do beforehand - chase.

You can get an idea of what other people think, what can be done with them, and most importantly to me how they feel. For Mercedes coupe, I had found numerous reviews and opinions, but most of them from when the car was new, and not live with it as a Young Classic, every day.

Putting my needs and expectations of every car in perspective, I’m pretty particular on certain points (not listed in any particular order ):

Style _ lots of it, the car has to offer a timeless and unfussy image, one that does not need to compete.

Comfort _ it needs the ability to wipe away daily pressures and becomes your personal, indulgent cocoon for the duration of any trip.

Silence _ no rattles or squeaks or other annoying noise, a good engine sound is a must, and a little wind noise is fine as it is only natural.

Acoustics _ an interior bearing and moving sound with a good source of high quality able to convey music as it was intended to be heard.

Space _ enough for a family of four, with room for a couple (well wrapped) bags in the back ..

Economy _ in England, is now a rather annoying point, to consider why some of my old car just would not fit the criteria.

I am sure there are plenty of other more subliminal points I’m but which at a glance that some do, and believe Mercedes lived up to all these? Yes, yes and yes.
