used cars : What happened to the Good Samaritan?used carsused cars I find it tragically some people no longer seem to believe in the good Samaritan. Years ago I used to live in the Twin Cities while I was there for the College. One day my old Toyota Camry broke down (turned out to be the generator is dying) in an area I knew nothing about, so I was lost and scared. I was near a stop light (although it was not a busy one,) and you think the first car that has seen me, would have been like “there is something wrong with the guy car?” Indeed, several cars passed me, and it was not as it was busy either, so I maybe two or three cars every two minutes or thereabouts, when a busy intersection, like more than three cars a second pass. Heck there were several cars that were stopped by a red light, but none of them helped me, though they could clearly see me, actually I talked to a guy, but he gave me a strange look and ignored me. (He rolled his eyes as if I was a sort of trouble.) It was only a few Canadian tourists came when I got help … Nobody from America, offered help, but I got my help from … Canada! That is one reason why I appreciate America’s little brother even more, I do not get why people bash them so much … I hope it was just a Minneapolis thing, because if many others feel the same way so there is something wrong. * Sigh * It does not help, either for people who want to be good Samaritans when you hear stories like this: A few months later in winter, I heard a news story on the radio, which said in short a person tried to help a person who seemed to be having car problems, but the other person is robbed of the good Samaritan of their money and then won the Samaritan car. It’s nice … Yes the story annoyed me, but I do not know what was worse the fact that the guy stole the car, thought some people may be deterred from being good Samaritans after hearing that radio history, nor the fact that when I asked people about history, they do not seem to be outraged over it. All three of these completely mistaken me. (On a positive note, when my battery needs a charge in a second episode, the first person I asked said “yes I will help you.” I think it helped that I had my own cables .) It seems that if one refuses to help another, it is either out of mistrust, false pretenses (”oh he’s fine I’ll just run with”) or “inconveinence ‘… actually, according to the Bible sort of attitude existed into a long, long. I mean look at the Good Samaritan parable of the Bible (hence the term “the good Samaritan), which can be found in Luke 10:25-37. By the way, if you will ever see a great comic showcase of the parable, Nest Family Entertainment produced several Bible cartoons that can be seen on Saturday 02:00 on TBN, yes they have some good stuff on TBN although I would not support / agree with all telecommunications vang list on TBN’s lineup. I have not really seen or heard about these so much anymore, but WWJD (What would Jesus do) bracelet was something popular for a while. I got a blue WWJD bracelet when I was a teenager, had it a couple times, but treated it more like a fashion statement, and ultimately kept wearing it (I was a teenager, afterall) but I found it recently at my file cabinet. (As reminds me I need to reorganize the stuff lol there are like papers all over it throughout) I would definitely say the bracelet was not made for the sake of making a buck, although it is an additional benefit, but more as a gospel reminder and a good reminder for; especially those who have not always acted Christ-like (myself included .)< p class = "post metadata"> This entry was posted May 3, 2010 07:56 and is filed under Commentary, Faith.Tagged: alternator, America, Article, assist, attitude, bread Ben Umnus, Bible, big city, bracelets, down, Camry, Canada, car, car event, car problems, cars, Christ, Christ-like, Christlike, conveinience, coverage, distrust, drive, driveby, etc, erroneous assumption gawk, gaze, God, good, goodwill, Gospel of Luke, guy, help, inconveinience, Jesus, Jesus Christ, jumper cables, see Lord, Luke10 :25-37, man, Messiah, metropolis, Midwest, Minneapolis, Minnesota, news, personal, radio, Saint Paul, Samaritan, the Savior, St. Paul, stop light, history, TBN, teenager, The Good Samaritan, Gospel, Toyota, Toyota Camry, traffic lights, traffic parable, trend, Twin Cities, USA, USA , weird, wrong, WWJD.
